Mbappe and Kane top price lists, as Sancho’s value leaps to match his breakthrough season

April 3 – With the season now rapidly progressing towards its closing league stages across Europe and eyes starting to focus on summer transfer activity, the CIES Football Observatory has calculated the highest estimated transfer value per big-5 league club.

Top of the expensive player list is France and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe at €228 million representing 25.9% of PSG’s phenomenally expensively assembled squad value. That percentage suggests that perennially want-away striker Neymar, the world’s most expensive player when he joined PSG, might struggle to get to half his last value.

Harry Kane tops the most valuable player list in the Premier League at €198 million, ahead of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling who has seen his value rise rapidly to €187 million. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, generally expected to be on the move this summer, is in contrast cheap at €122 million, €37 million less than his Belgian teammate Romelu Lukaku who is Man Utd’s highest value player.

There is also transfer value life in football’s elderly statesmen. Lionel Messi, at €171 million, is still Barcelona and Spain’s highest value player, while his 34-year-old rival Cristiano Ronaldo is Juventus’ second highest valuable player at €125 million, only outranked by teammate Paulo Dybala at €142 million.

Perhaps the breakout player of the year in terms of performance and value is Dortmund and England’s Jadon Sancho who €148 million, represents 24.9% of Dortmund’s squad transfer value and is the highest ranked Bundesliga player.
