August 20 – Anorthosis Famagusta have been thrown out of this season’s Europa League after crowd trouble forced the abandonment of their home game against Dila Gori at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium in Larnaca.

The Cypriot club have also been ordered to play their next three European home games behind closed doors and fined €15,000 (£12,000/$19,000).

Anorthosis were 3-0 down against their Georgian opponents in the third qualifying round second leg tie on August 9 when the game was called off eight minutes from time after fans invaded the pitch.

The match was declared null and void but since the visitors were already 3-0 up when it was abandoned, the result stands.

Dila will now play Portugal’s CS Marítimo in the play-off round.
