Big money buy: Sancho tops U20 transfer value shopping list at €150m

May 7 – As the Summer transfer window creeps closer to opening and big clubs prepare for their close season shopping, a ranking of Big 5 league U20 players by value has been released with England and Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho (pictured) top of that list.

Sancho’s estimated value of €150 million is more than double the valuation of Arsenal’s defensive midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

The valuations are compiled by the CIES Football Observatory using its own proprietary algorithm. The table shows just seven players born on or after 1 January 1999 being valued over €50 million, three of them play in the English Premier League with West Ham’s Declan Rice ranked 7th and valued at €64.2 million.

Looking at the spread of youth across Europe’s Big 5 leagues, 14 of the ranked players are at EPL clubs, 11 with Bundesliga, 10 in LaLiga, eight in France’s Ligue 1 and seven in Serie A.

The CIES updated transfer valuations for all players from the five major European competitions are available here.
