September 20 – Barcelona have put their clout behind a new initiative to encourage 28 million people across Europe to quit smoking.
Harnessing the success of the award-winning “Ex-Smokers are Unstoppable” scheme, the four-time European champions will work with the European Commission in the new “Quit Smoking with Barça” campaign to help smokers kick the habit forever and improve their health.
The unique partnership, which marks the first time the European Commission has collaborated with a sports club, aims not to judge smokers, but instead underline the many benefits of quitting smoking.
Combined with positive messages, the innovative campaign offers supporters of the club, football and sport in general, a personalised health-training programme with daily quit smoking tips and encouragement directly from key figures at the Catalan outfit.
The scheme is being powered by iCoach, a digital tool that has already helped one in every 500 smokers across Europe in their quest to kick the habit for good.
