October 8 – South Africa’s upcoming away friendly against Poland this Friday (October 12) has been switched to the capital after the original venue refused to allow the match to take place.
The game had been due to take place in the northern city of Bydgoszcz but has been moved to Warsaw for safety reasons.
Bydgoszcz was the scene of fan violence during the Polish Cup final last year (pictured top) and local authorities were concerned about lack of security camera facilities, damaged turnstiles and inadequate fencing.
Meanwhile, Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has been included in the Bafana Bafana squad despite reports suggesting he would be retiring from international football.
