October 5 – Juventus President Andrea Agnelli is among the last batch of big name speakers who will be participating in the Leaders in Sport Summit next week at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club.
Agnelli will be delivering a keynote one-to-one interview with Liverpool’s former managing director Christian Purslow on the challenges of life at the top in football.
His Juventus team have endured a fascinating few years, having battled back from the ignominy of being relegated to Serie B, Italy’s second tier, for their part in the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal of 2006 which blighted Italy.
The Bianconeri have since fought their way back into Serie A and last season won the scudetto for the first time since the scandal, and are currently on an unbeaten league run of 46 matches, 12 short of the record AC Milan hold.
Roberto Martinez, the Wigan Athletic manager (pictured below), and Pierluigi Collina, recognised as the best referee in the world during his career, will also be present and the pair are to deliver an insight into life on the pitch and pressures off it.
Collina is now the chief refereeing officer at UEFA.
Nick Fry, the chief executive of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1, will be exploring creative activation in sponsorship, drawing on his experience in motor sport, while Bhavesh Patel, the vice-president of Interactive Media at Fox Soccer and Fox Deportes, will be giving his thoughts on the future of fans and the technology they will use to consume sport in the future.
It was announced that the event, taking place October 10 and 11, was a sell out, but interested parties can still register to join the waiting list to take any places vacated by already confirmed representatives.
The conference agendas and speaker lists have been made available through individual conference websites, and more information is available at here.
