August 16 – Bayer 04 Leverkusen has signed Kumho Tyre has the club’s official tyre partner in a deal that will its logo on the club’s sleeve as part of a wide ranging sponsorship package.
Kumho will receive advertising space inside the BayArena, featuring on the 3D logo cam carpets by the goals as well as LED boards. Kumho branding will also appear on digital substitution and extra-time boards as well as on the rear walls of the media room, the mixed zone, the area behind the substitutes’ bench, and within both club magazines – ‘Werks11’ and ‘BayArena Aktuell’.
Kumho will have the sleeve patch for matches in the DFB-Pokal (German Cup).
Hendrik Schiphorst, Executive Vice President Football Germany, Lagardère Sports (who negotiated the sale), said: “This co-operation is much more than a formal sports partnership and adds an invaluable extra dimension to the content which only the reach of these two internationally recognised companies can bring.”
Kumho are expanding their club sponsorships with top European clubs having already secured a deal with Premier League Tottenham Hotspur.
Jun Ro Song, President of Kumho Tire Europe, said: “We’re looking forward to a lengthy partnership with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, as the club stands for reliability, ambition and international prestige – key criteria in our sports partnerships. We are already an official partner of Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League and are very happy to be sponsoring a second top European football club. We hope to significantly increase brand awareness of Kumho Tyre through this new partnership.”
Song and Bayer Leverkusen’s Rudi Voller (pictured) formally secured the deal at a signing ceremony earlier this week. No term or value was given for the sponsorship.
