October 14 – The United Soccer League (USL) that recently announced David Beckham’s Miami FC and MLS old-stager new England Revolution as entering development teams in its third tier League One division, has added performance data providers PlayerMaker as a ‘preferred partner’.
Playmaker provides player tracking data via a device strapped to a player’s boot. That data collected allows coaches to analyse team and player performance.
USL Chief Operating Officer Justin Papadakis said: “Utilising data to its fullest potential is something our league strives to do in every facet of our operations. PlayerMaker allows our teams to fully optimize player performance by using the data generated to make the most informed coaching decisions.”
The USL’s Preferred Supplier Program connects suppliers with clubs in order to provide what the USL says are ‘Best in Class’ solutions. Partner services cover a range of a club operations from stadium development to front office and team operations.
“We are excited for what this collaboration will mean for the future of the sports technology industry more widely,” said Gal Barak, General Manager, Americas at PlayMaker. “At PlayMaker, we are committed to the enhancement of player development strategies through the use of data analytics and, in partnering with the USL, we are able to extend our offering further within this space.”
