Nigerian Dangote says he has his sights set on Gunners, but not until 2021

January 14 – The richest man in Africa has made the sensational claim that he plans to buy Arsenal some time next year.

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote (pictured), who reportedly has a net worth of more than £8.5 billion, has pledged to take over the famous north London club from Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE).

Dangote made his fortune founding the largest cement producer in Nigeria and also has salt, sugar and flour manufacturing companies, all listed on the stock market.

He has previously made a number of statements about his desire to purchase the Gunners and has now re-iterated those intentions.

KSE have come under fire in recent months from sections of Arsenal’s  fan base over how the club is being run both on and off the field and Dangote was quoted as saying: “It is a team (Arsenal) that yes I would like to buy some day, but what I keep saying today is we have $20 billion worth of projects and that’s what I really want to concentrate on.”

“I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe some time in 2021 we can.

“I’m not buying Arsenal right now, I’m buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects, because I’m trying to take the company to the next level.”
