January 15 – The new LaLigaTV channel that launched this week on the Sky TV platform in the UK as a standalone service has now added the Virgin Media cable platform to its distribution. The channel now has access to a potential 11.7 million subscription market in the UK.
The dedicated LaLiga channel is part of the Premier Sports bundle which includes Premier Sports 1 and Premier Sports 2 HD channels.
On the Sky platform the LaLigaTV channel is currently offering a promotion until January 28 that allows Sky’s 8.5 million subscribers access to two full LaLiga Santander matchdays. Subscribers can then add the channel for £5.99 per month.
On Virgin’s network the channel is available to all Premier Sports subscribers at no extra cost and will be available on platform’s mobile app – Virgin TV Go – from the end of the month.
Virgin Television currently has about 3.2 million subscribers.
Marketed as ‘All of LaLiga, All in one place’, the channel will broadcast every available live game from the top tier LaLiga Santander as well as daily studio shows, expert analysis, features, and documentaries.
Richard Sweeney, CEO at Premier Sports, said: “We are delighted to launch LaLigaTV on Virgin TV as part of the Premier Sports bundle giving our customers even more incredible value. Premier Sports has built up a loyal following of football fans and we’re thrilled to bring the dedicated 24/7 channel of top-flight Spanish football to Virgin TV customers.”
