Coronavirus: ECA call off General Assembly scheduled for Budapest at end of month

March 11 – The European Club Association (ECA) has called off its forthcoming general assembly in Budapest at the end of this month because of Covid-19 with representatives of more than 200 clubs across the continent forced to cancel their arrangements to fly to the Hungarian capital for their biggest annual gathering.

“Due to the unprecedented situation caused by ongoing COVID-19 developments across Europe, ECA’s Executive Board has taken the decision to cancel the ECA General Assembly scheduled to be held in Budapest on 30-31 March 2020,” the ECA said in a statement.

“The situation has been evolving rapidly and we believe that this latest precaution is the right thing to do for all our stakeholders.

“The ECA General Assembly is an event of huge importance to us and we know what it means to ECA Members so we are actively looking into alternative options for engagement.”
