Sex change: Locked down football fans swap live TV matches for bedroom action

April 30 – Football fans may be frustrated at not being able to watch their teams live but they are making up for it with more action in the bedroom, according to data from a new study.

A survey by OLBG has found that 1 in 10 of the 2,000 sports fans surveyed are enjoying more sex since sporting events have been postponed and cancelled.

Cerebral Oxford is leading in the bedroom action

with an increase of 17%, while Sheffield is showing a distinctly colder 3% uptake with more fans opting to play video games instead.

The survey found that football fans typically spend 13 hours per week engaged in sports – split across watching games live on TV, following it on the news and chatting about it.

Football tops the chart as the number one sport missed, followed by Formula 1 and Tennis.  70% miss watching a game on the TV, while 28% miss having something to look forward to each week. 1 in 20 even admit they miss having an excuse to not spending time with their significant other half.

Richard Moffat, CEO of OLBG says: “Sports is more than just something we look forward to on a Saturday afternoon and it’s no surprise there are a lot of people out there missing the action. What is interesting about the data is over HALF of those polled admit they would happily go longer in lock-down if their favourite sport leagues picked back up!”

Top scorers by region:

  1. Oxford (17%)
  2. London (16%)
  3. Glasgow (15%)
  4. Cardiff (12%)
  5. Aberdeen (11%)
  6. Norwich (10%)
