SIGA Strives 25: Integrity body opens mentor programme for next generation of female leaders

June 9 – The Sports Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has opened the candidature process for its Global Female Mentorship Programme for Aspiring Female Leaders in Sport.

Open to women aged 24 or over, the programme is designed to promote future leaders in sport and foster greater gender diversity within the industry. The objective is via the mentoring to support and encourage future female leaders in sport to achieve their potential.

Katie Simmonds, General Counsel & Senior Director, Global Partnerships of SIGA, and General Counsel of SIGA America, said: “If we are to instigate meaningful cultural change, then the current female leaders in the sports world, together with male leaders, have a responsibility to support the next generation of aspiring female leaders. Leadership has no gender. It is driving forward the current agenda with a vision ahead…

“Now is not a time to celebrate being an exception. Rather, it is time to level the playing field with concrete actions that pave the way for real governance changes in the world of sport.”

SIGA’s mentorship programme focusses on teaching vital leadership skills and creating insightful experiences with female leaders in the sports business.

The new programme will be carried out in a digital format, allowing mentors and mentees to connect from all over the world, said SIGA.

The opening of the new mentorship programme follows the announcement of the 2020/ 2021 SIGA Global Agenda for Female Empowerment and Leadership in Sport. 

This is the 25rth in a set of 30 boosting measures as part of the integrity body’s global campaign #SIGASTRIVES.
