UEFA puts Super Cup tickets on sale for travelling Bayern and Sevilla fans

September 8 – Tickets have gone on sale for the European Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Sevilla, due to be the first UEFA club match with fans in attendance since the coronavirus shutdown.

Last month, the European governing body ruled that up to 30% of the 67,215 capacity Puskas Arena in the Hungarian capital could be taken by fans for the game between the German giants and the serial Europa League winners, but that decision came under threat when Hungarian authorities closed the country’s borders to foreigners to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

But after negotiations with the local government, UEFA got an exemption for the Super Cup. On Monday, the European confederation announced ticketing details for the match, including requirements for overseas fans who wish to travel to Budapest and attend the game in person.

Both clubs will receive an allocation of 3,000 tickets. The general public can apply online for tickets with prices ranging from €30 to €120. Fans have until September 9 to submit their request.

At the match, strict hygiene measures will apply, including social distancing, wearing a mask and submitting to a temperature check. UEFA considers the match a test-run for future European club matches.

With regards to overseas fan, UEFA noted that: “In order to enter Hungary, ticket holders from overseas may undergo an obligatory medical examination during their entry. They will also be required to present their official match ticket and proof of a negative SARS-CoV19 PCR test (a Hungarian or English language document, containing the results of the molecular biological test) which must have been performed within the three days before their entry into Hungary. Ticket holders entering Hungary for the UEFA Super Cup are obliged to leave the territory of Hungary within 72 hours after their entry.”

Other UEFA fixtures – the Nations League matches and qualifiers for the continental club competitions – are still being played behind closed doors. Last month, the final eight tournaments in both the Champions League and the Europa League were also completed without fans.
