Leicester City expand Vitality partnership to newly acquired women’s team

September 8 – Premier League Leicester City, whose owners King Power completed the acquisition of the women’s team of the same name last month, have signed the first major sponsor for their new team in health and life insurance firm Vitality.

Vitality become the Official Wellness Partner of the club ahead of the 2020/21 FA Women’s Championship campaign. It is a recognition of the ambition King Power have for the team that has gone fully professional for the first time this season and is targeting promotion to the top tier of the women’s game in England.

Following the King Power purchase of LCWFC, the team joined the “Senior Men, Under-23s and Under-18s among the core teams of the Club’s football operation,” said a club press release.

Harj Hir, Head of Partnerships at Leicester City, said: “It’s a fantastic time to be a part of LCFC Women right now and the enthusiasm around the Club for the FA Women’s Championship season is great to see. Having a partner like Vitality on board will really help to boost the profile of LCWFC and continue the development of women’s football in the area.”

Vitality have been a partner of the men’s team for two years. Vitality will run a number of campaigns that promote health and wellbeing, as well as collaborate with the club “to increase the visibility of women’s sport and inspire more girls and women to try football, other sport and physical activity.”
