October 1 – Premier League clubs have signed off on using a points-per-game system if the season has to be curtailed prematurely by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Premier League restarted last season in June after being forced to halt the campaign in March because of Covid-19.
Plans for curtailment if another season is halted were formally voted on this week though the actual threshold of how much of the season needs to be played has yet to be agreed.
There was no agreement for a financial bailout for Football League clubs. The Government’s decision to postpone the planned phased return of fans, which was due to happen on October 1, changed the financial outlook for top-flight clubs.
However, The Times has reported that the Premier League will find £200 million of financial aid if the EFL supports their lobby for fewer government restrictions on the movement of young international players.
It is good to see the old football habits of blackmail and slave trading can still work hand-in-glove.
