Puma buys into US pro leagues with 3-year USL deal

November 16 – The United Soccer League, which runs second and third tier professional leagues in the US, has signed a three-year deal sports leisure brand Puma.

No value has been given for the partnership which will cover all the USL’s activities and see Puma become a national partner for the new USL Academy League.

The USL’s academy league launches next spring with more than 50 clubs across 25 US states in the US.

“We are honored to share this opportunity with PUMA,” said USL Chief Executive Officer Alec Papadakis. “With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon we are entering one of the most exciting phases in the history of North American soccer and are thrilled to align with a brand like PUMA who shares our vision for what the future of our sport in the country could look like.”

Puma already partner’s with the USL Championship’s New Mexico United and has agreed a deal with Oakland Roots Sports Club, which makes its USL Championship debut in 2021.

The agreement gives Puma rights to create on-site activations at the USL Championship’s major events, including the USL Championship Final and the USL Mid-Year Meetings and Winter Summit.
