November 25 – FIFA has revealed the candidates shortlisted for seven of the individual trophies that will be presented at its Best Football Awards ceremony on December 17. Two expert panels – one for men and one for women’s football, have selected the candidates for each category.
Liverpool players make-up four of the 10 male nominees, while four Olympique Lyonnais players make up four of the top 10 women nominees.
Lionel Messi and Megan Rapinoe (pictured) won the men’s and women’s Best player awards in 2019. Messi is nominated again in 2020.
The winner of this award will be selected by an international jury comprising a panel of FIFA legends and by fans from all over the world registered to vote on Fifa.com.
The vote will run until December 9. FIFA will announce the three finalists in each of the seven categories listed above on December 11.
