Israel and UAE close to signing football pact

December 2 – The football associations of Israel and the United Arab Emirates will finalise a partnership in December with FIFA president Gianni Infantino attending the signing ceremony, the Israel Football Association (IFA) has announced.

IFA president Oren Hasson and CEO Rotem Kamer will travel to Dubai to sign the agreement on December 14. Infantino is expected to be present.

The partnership will focus on promotion and development of the game in both countries and envisages a friendly international between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

“FIFA president Gianni Infantino has led a historic move as part of his football vision as a wonderful means of connecting people and countries,” said Hasson in a statement. “I have no doubt that the agreement will become a central and significant pillar in strengthening the ties between the two peoples.”

FIFA have not yet confirmed Infantino’s presence at the signing. In September, the FIFA supremo attended the signing of a diplomatic pact between Israel and both the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in Washington DC.
