February 5 – Danish club Esbjerg fB, relegated from the top tier Superliga last season but currently in second place in Division 1, is the latest club to come under the control of Pacific Media Group who are partnering in the acquisition with Chien Lee, Partners Path Capital, and Krishen Sud.
Esbjerg fB will now be in an ownership group that holds majority positions in England’s Barnsley FC, Belgian KV Oostende and French AS Nancy Lorraine, as well as having an investment in Swiss FC Thun.
The Danish deal will see the new investors invest DKK 30 million ($4.8 million) into the club alongside Claus Sørensen Gruppen who will inject DKK 10 million ($1.6 million) with the option for a further DKK 5 million.
All the new money will be for new shares and will provide the club with working capital as it bids to return to the top flight.
Paul Conway, speaking for the investor group, said they are looking forward to developing the strong foundation of EfB and highlighted the use of data and statistics at a strategic level as an important tool for the club’s development.
