June 7 – Ahead of the kick off of the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup on June 21, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has agreed sponsorship deals with Aksa Jenerator to provide energy and with Hyundai to provide 112 official cars.
Generator manufacturer Aksa Jenerator will be the official energy sponsor for the U-20 World Cup providing an independent and reliable energy source at a value of US$5 million for the tournament.
Turkish Football Federation vice-president Ufuk Ozerten said: “Aksa Jenerator will supply us with the energy requirements needed to stage the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Their support will aid the success of the tournament in two ways. Firstly the matches will be broadcast live to over 190 countries around the world. 500 million football lovers will watch the games on their TVs. The tournament is an important opportunity to showcase Turkey to the world. There cannot be interruptions in the broadcast during the matches. Secondly, Turkey’s chances of winning the 2020 Olympic bid rests heavily on our ability to host the U-20 World Cup successfully.”
Hyundai Motor Company, the official automotive partner of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013, has supplied 112 vehicles which will provide transportation for FIFA and Local Organising Committee officials, refereeing teams and tournament officials.
At a vehicle handover ceremony outside the Turk Telekom Arena LOC President Servet Yardimci said: “Hyundai is one of FIFA’s leading sponsors. We are very happy to be working alongside one of the most prestigious brands in South Korea and the world. I would like to thank Hyundai and their management team on behalf of LOC and FIFA for sponsoring Turkey 2013. I would like to wish the South Korea U-20 football team, who play their games at the Kayseri Kadir Has Stadium, the best of luck.”
Hyundai Assan Turkey managing director Umit Karaarslan said, “We’re proud to be sponsoring an organisation which brings people together from every corner of the world. The excitement, joy and team spirit that football brings embodies our organisation’s philosophy. Hyundai made a major investment in Turkey this year with the construction of the Izmit factory.
“The company is brimming with excitement at the prospect of Turkey 2013. In order for the tournament to run as smoothly as possible we have provided premium vehicles which are high in quality, adhere to our strict safety standards and are environmentally friendly. We’re proud to be sponsoring footballs stars of the future. We look forward to meeting the Turkish public, especially the youth at the games in all seven host cities.”
Hyundai is one of FIFA’s major partners, having sponsored every international FIFA event since 1999.
