August 9 – Manchester City are reported to have stepped their interest in England captain Harry Kane, having already smashed the UK transfer record for an English player by purchasing Jack Grealish for £100 million.
Kane returned to Tottenham on Saturday after holidaying in the Bahamas and Florida post-Euro 2020 amid heightened interest in his future, denying reports he had refused to train with his boyhood club.
Co-incidentally Spurs face City in both team’s Premier League opener on Sunday,
Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was hoping to speak with Kane today for the first time after Spurs finished pre-season with an encouraging 1-0 win over rivals Arsenal.
The England captain remains City’s top target in a £150 million deal by the time the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
“If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate it is finished. If they want to negotiate, many clubs would like to sign him, we are not an exception. We are very interested in him,” said City boss Pep Guardiola.
