September 27 – Inter Milan have launched their latest international academy in South America with the Inter Academy Chile officially announced at the weekend and a start date set for early October.
“The birth of this new partnership represents an important step in Inter Academy’s expansion in South America,” said Alessandro Antonello, CEO of FC Internazionale Milano.
“The launch of a new project in Chile, a country that has always had strong ties with football and the Nerazzurri colours, is really pleasing for us and we are happy to be able to start this new adventure alongside a partner with such great experience in the field like Soccer Camps United”.
Pre-pandemic Inter had an aggressive expansion plan via its academy initiative. Inter had launched 21 academy partnerships worldwide with a focus in China but including Europe and South America. The pace of the roll out had slowed down with covid pandemic, with the last Inter Academy projects being launched in Brazil and Turkey in the summer of 2020.
Last month the Serie A champions returned to their academy theme with Team Mind Sports Academy in Dubai debuting a new Academy.
Inter Academy Chile aims to develop a network of football schools in the country, via a partnership with Soccer Camps United SpA – a Chilean company under the Holland-based Soccer Camps United B.V. brand – who specialise in organising football schools in collaboration with professional clubs.
Felipe Norambuena, CEO of Soccer Camps United Chile, said: “We are honoured to be working with Inter Milan, a club with a great tradition of Chilean players. With the opening of this Academy we want to bring together the Nerazzurri community in Chile, with the hope of growing the fanbase in our country.”
