Spurs and AIA

August 20 – Tottenham have announced a deal with Asian insurance company AIA, which sees the North London club continue to have separate short sponsors for the Premier League and Cup competitons, whilst East London’s West Ham extends its partnership with international mobile operator Lycamobile.

The new deal with the Hong Kong based AIA Group Ltd will see Investec’s logo replaced by the Arsenal-red AIA logo on the Spurs’ shirt for matches in the FA Cup, Capital One Cup and Europa League. Hewlett Packard will continue to sponsor the club’s shirts for Premier League matches.

Chairman Daniel Levy said: ‘We look forward to working closely with AIA over the coming season and introducing our club to more fans in AIA’s home, the dynamic Asia-Pacific region.’

Mark Tucker, chief executive of AIA, himself a Chelsea fan and a former trainee with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rochdale and Barnet, said: “Spurs has a massive fan base in Asia.”

Meanwhile, across town, MVNO Lycamoble has signed a two-year contract extension with West Ham to continue as the club’s official mobile partner.

Lycamobile Group chairman Subaskaran Allirajah said: “Our sponsorship of West Ham United Football Club has proved successful for both parties and we are thrilled to be extending our relationship. West Ham United is hugely popular in our key markets, and we are excited to continue work with this fantastic Club and engage closely with its loyal fans.”

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady commented: “It is clear that West Ham has real synergy with Lycamobile as we both share a real commitment to serving the local community. With its impressive global and UK footprint, there are a number of joint opportunities within the local community and international territories which will benefit both our and Lycamobile’s huge following.”
