December 10 – Sports integrity group SIGA has opened applications for its 2022 women’s global mentorship programme, aimed at promoting future leaders in sport and fostering greater gender equality in the boardroom.
This will be the fourth year of the programme which is open to women aged 24 or over and will begin in March 2022.
The six-month schedule includes eight interactive Group Digital Workshops on a range of topics, including goal setting, leadership and integrity and mental health, amongst others.
“Mentees will be paired with one of the SIGAWomen Global Mentors for a minimum of six bilateral sessions and will receive complimentary Digital Passes for the SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport, taking place in Manhattan, on 8 and 9 March 2022. The Summit will be hosted by Mastercard, one of SIGA’s Founding Members,” said SIGA.
Katie Simmonds, SIGA’s Global COO & Managing Director of the #SIGAWomen Programme, will lead selection of the mentees alongside Alison Giordano, Mastercard’s Vice President for Consumer Marketing & Sponsorships, and Octagon’s Vice President, Inclusive Diversity, Octagon, Cristina Ackas.
“Gender equity in the boardroom of sports organisations is the Gold Standard for the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport. We are still a long way off from achieving this!,” said Simmonds.
“The #SIGAWomen Global Mentorship Programme is a pragmatic way to create long lasting leadership lanes for young women carving out a career in the industry.”
Alison Giordano, Vice President, Global Consumer Marketing and Sponsorships, Mastercard and Vice-Chair, SIGA Council, said: “At Mastercard, we believe a world designed with women in mind creates limitless possibilities for all. I look forward to supporting SIGA’s mentorship program for aspiring female leaders in Sport and helping unlock opportunities for the next generation.”
