March 28 – QatarEnergy has become a partner of the 2022 World Cup, joining Crytpo.com and BYJU’s who were unveiled as Qatar 2022 sponsors last week.
“QatarEnergy is joining FIFA in this important FIFA World Cup year, and we are delighted to welcome them, as they share our excitement and enthusiasm for this first FIFA World Cup organised in the Arab world,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
“This year’s tournament will expand football’s reach and shine a light on the region, bringing different cultures from across the globe together in Qatar to enjoy the best football in the world in stunning state-of-the-art venues.”
Founded in 1974, state-owned QatarEnergy is one of the largest providers of liquified natural gas in the world.
FIFA said that all global partnership positions for the 2022 World Cup have now been allocated, and that one regional supporter package in the middle east and gulf region remained.
Last week, the global governing body unveiled Crypto.com as the sixth sponsor of the Qatar World Cup and BYJU’s the seventh. Vivo, Hisense, McDonald’s, Budweiser and Mengniu had already committed to 2022 sponsorship. Qatar Airways, Visa and Adidas are among the brands featuring in the top-tier FIFA partner category.
Qatar will host the World Cup from 21 November to December 18. It will be the first World Cup in the European winter and the last one in the 32-team format. Building up to the tournament, Doha will host the FIFA Congress and World Cup draw this week.
