October 1 – Hublot, the luxury watch-maker, have agreed a partnership with Paris Saint-Germain to become the Official Timekeeper and Watch of Paris Saint-Germain FC in a deal which will afford them branding exposure at the Parc des Princes stadium.
The company have presented players with commemorative watches to mark the team’s 2012-13 Ligue 1-winning campaign.
The new deal continues Hublot’s involvement in football which has seen the Swiss watchmaker, whose timepieces reportedly have an average retail price of SFr23,000, partner with FIFA to serve as the official timekeeper of the World Cup in South Africa and 2014 World Cup in Brazil and work closely with other major European clubs, including Bayern Munchen, Juventus and Ajax.
According to Hublot Chairman Jean-Claude Biver and CEO Ricardo Guadalupe: “Paris is the European capital of taste, elegance and luxury. Paris is the capital of tourism. And now, thanks to Paris Saint-Germain, Paris is the capital of European football. There was no way that Hublot could not be associated with them, and it is a privilege for Hublot to mark the glorious hours to come for Paris Saint-Germain!”
Jean-Claude Blanc, Deputy CEO of Paris Saint-Germain stated: “We are very happy to welcome a new prestigious international brand on board.
Hublot ended their long association with Manchester United earlier this year and the new deal is further confirmation that what Sir Alex Ferguson called “the prawn sarnie brigade” is well and truly entrenched in European football.
