April 12 – UEFA have ordered Atletico Madrid to close a part of their stadium for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City.
The Spanish champions must close off at least 5,000 seats at the 68,456-capacity Wanda Metropolitano for the return leg of the fixture. The European governing body said in a statement that the punishment is for the “discriminatory behaviour” of Atletico fans during last week’s first-leg match in Manchester, referring to fans who were filmed making a Nazi-style salute in the stands.
The Spanish club will also have to display a UEFA banner reading ‘#NoToRacism’.
Roma and Bodo/Glimt
UEFA has also provisionally suspended both Roma goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos and Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen for an alleged altercation between the pair following last week’s European Conference league match.
In the first leg of the quarter-final, the high-flying Norwegian champions defeated Jose Mourinho’s side 2-1.What will be the result of the second leg? You can try your luck and bet on one of these hand-picked betting sites.
In response to UEFA’s disciplinary measures, Bodo/Glimt said: “We are surprised and shocked by Uefa’s decision. We will appeal, and will work on it throughout the evening. Beyond that, we currently have no comments.”
The club claims they have video evidence of Roma’s support staff, including Santos, attacking Knutsen.
The second leg of the tie will be played in Rome on Thursday.
