April 26 – Quadruple chasing Liverpool will warm up for their 2022/23 campaign in Asia with a game in Singapore against Crystal Palace for the inaugural Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy.
While China is still in covid lockdown and Chinese Taipei have just pulled out of AFC Cup centralised group hosting due to coronavirus restrictions and travel difficulties, Singapore in contrast is starting relax its covid measures.
The match will be played on July 15 in the National Stadium which is expected to have no restrictions to the 55,000 capacity. The day before the match the two cubs will conduct open training sessions at the ground.
Tickets for the match start from S$149 (£85) while those for the open training session are S$39 (£22). The prices are a significant increase on the 2019 International Champions Cup matches that were played in Singapore pre-covid in 2019 and featured Manchester United vs Inter Milan and Juventus vs Spurs. For those matches ticket prices started at S$38.
This is the second Liverpool pre-season warm-up scheduled for the summer. Liverpool are due to play Manchester United in Bangkok on July 12.
Ben Latty, commercial director of Liverpool, said: “Pre-season is a vital time of year for our players, it’s hugely important preparation for the season ahead and it’s also a perfect opportunity to meet with our fans around the world.
“We eagerly await the sound of our fans filling the National Stadium in Singapore as we take on Crystal Palace in July, it’s going to be a great finish to our 2022/23 pre-season.”
