May 25 – British leisurewear brand Castore has broken in the Spanish market with its first kit supply deal in LaLiga with Sevilla. Castore will replace Nike.
The four-season deal will see Castore providing the playing and training kits to the Sevilla first team, Sevilla FC Women and their academy teams.
Sevilla president, José Castro, said: “Partnering with Castore is an important step for our club, because we are linking up with a company that shares our values. It is an ambitious brand that in just a few years, starting from scratch, has managed to break the status quo in the world of sports brands in the same way that we have done in Spanish and European football.”
Only founded in 2015, Castore signed its first Premier League partnership with Wolverhampton Wanderers in May 2021, replacing Adidas as the club’s kit and apparel partner, following that up by replacing Puma at Newcastle United for the season just ended. Both deals were reported as records for the clubs. Castore is also the kit supplier for Scotland’s Europa League finalists Rangers and the Bundesliga’s Bayer Leverkusen.
Tom Beahon, Castore’s co-founder, said: “Sevilla are an exceptional team with high aspirations, and we’re confident they are the right club to represent Castore’s ‘Better Never Stops’ philosophy. This is an exciting step for Castore, and we look forward to working closely with Sevilla FC ahead of the 2022/23 season.”
No value was given for the deal with Sevilla. The Newcastle United deal is reckoned to be worth £5 million annually for the club.
