November 15 – Marcus Thuram has been handed the last spot in the France squad that will defend its World Cup title in Qatar while the uncapped Axel Disasi was also called up on Monday after Presnel Kimpembe had to pull out with injury.
France originally named only 25 players when the squad was announced last week, leaving one spot open.
Thuram, son of the 1998 World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, will complement France’s already impressive attacking strength but coach Didier Deschamps will rue yet another injury after Paris St Germain defender Kimpembe ruled himself out
France are already without Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, depriving Deschamps of his two best midfielders from the 2018 World Cup.
The defending champions fly to Qatar on Wednesday before launching their campaign against Australia on November 22.
