January 31 – A new app using crowdsourced insights into betting patterns has been launched for iPads. BETFUZE, a London-based technology driven business, has developed the app as a tool for sports betting.

Using the crowdsourced Twitter sentiment engine – Sentimeter – the app helps better predict the outcome of sports bets by analysing the tweets of millions of sports fans in real-time.

The free to download app also integrates sporting news and statistics into the equations.

Sentimeter analyses the million of fans’ conversations on Twitter to interpret a positive or negative social sentiment, and then judges the likely outcome of the event.

BETFUZE co-founder and CEO Paul McNea said: “The Sentimeter brings the power of social media to sport in a way that’s never been seen before. BETFUZE uses the insights of millions of people, to reveal who the crowd is with, without needing to be in the stadium. This is betting for the mobile and social media generation where news and public opinion combine.”

The app will be of particular interest to gamblers who bet in-play.

Also incorporated into the app is an odds comparison function carrying odds from all the major UK bookmakers. The app also tailors to the user’s own individual preferences, identifying the user’s personal interests using the latest artificial intelligence technology.

Key to betting apps in particular is the speed of the user interface – gamblers have little patience with slow load-up times or painful navigation. BETFUZE says it has streamlined its design so there is none of the confusion or clutter of traditional betting sites.

iPhone and android versions of the app are in development and expected to launch in the near future.
