February 7 – Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has increased its global footprint with the licensing of its Spurs TV weekly television package to four international broadcasters who will screen exclusive club content on their platforms across four continents and 35 countries.
Spurs is aggressively expanding its international profile and fanbase. The TV deals follow hard on the heels of the Spurs announcement of a Chinese language version of its website.
Spurs TV will now air on the fast expanding beIN Sports network in Asia (including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand), USA, Canada, France, North Africa and the Middle East; Sony in India; Sky in New Zealand and Arena Sport across the Balkan region.
The programming focuses on delivering exclusive content from behind the scenes at the White Lane Club, separate to the live match rights that are licensed separately by the Premier League.
However, the deal does include full ‘as live’ coverage of the First Team’s most recent matches as well as interviews with the First Team squad.
Donna-Maria Cullen, Executive Director, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “These new content partnerships will enable us to engage with fans around the world and, with Spurs TV as part of the content package, fans will be able to see the behind-the-scenes features and clips that are in high demand, as well as match footage.
“We look forward to working with our new partners to continue to increase our global reach and develop further support.”
Spurs has nearly 100 Official Supporters Clubs around the world and the club estimates its global following at about 180 million.
