April 24 – The owner of Bulgaria’s Levski Sofia, Nasko Sirakov, has founded the Levski Business Club, which aims to raise funds to repay Levski’s tax debts that currently stand at about BGN 11 million (€5.5 million).
The ‘business club’ was launched at a special ceremony in one of the newest and most luxurious hotels in Sofia. Guests at the opening were local business people, who were presented with opportunities to participate in the club and its strategy.
The main goal is to form a community of companies and successful entrepreneurs who want to support the Levski football club.
As well as helping the club with the payment of its debt to the National Revenue Agency, the business club will support and finance the first team and the club’s youth Academy, as well as supporting marketing and administrative activities.
“Belonging to the Levski Business Club brings prestige to those who join it, because they are driven by the selfless desire to contribute to the preservation of the ‘Levski’ idea, by sharing values and sports passion with like-minded people”, said Borislav Georgiev, who was elected chairman of Business Club Levski.
At the opening, the association’s official website was also launched with its mission statement: “From the moment the “spark” for the creation of the Business Club ignited, until today, it has been driven solely by its love for Levski. Pure, sincere, untainted and timeless love. Love combined with a lot of passion, will and desire to help the club through its most difficult times. Because it is precisely in these most difficult times that morality, purity, faith, devotion and trust matter, all of which lie at the foundation of the Levski Business Club. It is our prestige, pride, and duty to protect the name of the Apostle, to preserve and continue his great work, by saving the football shrine, which to the greatest extent preserves, unites and transmits to future generations the spirit and memory of him – PFC Levski. And in this great work, love for the club and business can go hand in hand.”
