February 10 – Werder Bremen has extended its sponsorship deal with German poultry processor Wiesenhof until the end of June 2016, the football club said in a statement. The two-season extension builds on the first deal signed in 2012.
The company’s logo will continue to appear on the squad’s shirts. The amount of the deal was not disclosed by the German club. However, it is estimated that the extended contract will increase Werder’s sponsorship revenues from €5 million to €5.7 million per year, up 14%, reported local daily Kreis Zeitung.
Klaus Filbry, Manager of Marketing, Management and Finance at Werder Bremen, said that the collaboration between the club and Wiesenhof has been profitable for both partners.
“Werder have an economically … potent and dependable partner on their side and Wiesenhof can show that the courageous step on to the public stage of the Bundesliga was the right one,” Filbry said.
The partnership was also praised by Peter Wesjohann, chief executive of Wiesenhof, who said that the strong regional presence of the Green-Whites and their performance in the Bundesliga are highly valued assets. Since becoming a club sponsor in 2012, Wiesenhof has been aiming to use its involvement in Werder Bremen as a platform for brand awareness and increasing the company’s customer base, according to Wesjohann.
Established in 1899, Werder is based in Bremen, in Germany’s north-west. The club’s Weser stadium has a total capacity of 42,100.
