May 22 – The four nations in the Concacaf Nations League Finals to be played June 15-18 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, have released preliminary rosters of up to 60 players.
Defending champions USA, who play their semi-final against Mexico who they beat in the final in 2021, have included six English Premier League players in their team list: Brendan Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Weston Mckennie (all Leeds United), Christina Pulisic (Chelsea), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace) and Matt Turner (Arsenal).
The US roster also includes startlets Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund), Ricardo Pepi (FC Groningen) and Gianluca Busio (Venezia FC).
The US have still to appoint a national team manager and will once again be led by interim manager Anthony Hudson, from England, who is on the USSF coaching staff and was in Qatar 2022, and guided them to the finals.
At the Gold Cup draw Hudson was cagey about how many of his squad would make the both 23-player squads for the Nations League and Gold Cup which starts the week following the Nations League. With so many players coming from Europe he will be waiting to see the condition of players come the end of long seasons.
While speculation around who will make the US roster mounts – what the US lacks in playing genius it make up for strength in depth – the final rosters of the other nations looks more clear cut.
Key players for their countries Alphonso Davies (FC Bayern Munich/Canada), Concacaf’s player of the year, Guillermo Ochoa (US Salernitana 1919/Mexico), and Michael Murillo (RSC Anderlecht/Panama) can all be guaranteed to be heading to Vegas.
The final 23-player rosters will be confirmed a week prior to the start of the semifinals.
The semifinals, on Thursday, June 15, will see Panama vs Canada, followed by United States vs Mexico.
The third-place match and final will be played on Sunday, June 18.
The US opens the Gold Cup on June 24 in Chicago with their group game against Jamaica at Soldier Field.
