February 25 – FIFA has extended the bans worldwide to one English and two Slovakian players following allegations of match-fixing. The sanctions are an enforcement of penalties that have already been issued by their national federations.
Former Crystal Palace, Lincoln City and Kettering Town defender Moses Swaibu, has been sanctioned, said FIFA on its website, “by The FA with an interim suspension from all football-related activities after being charged by the UK National Crime Agency with the criminal offence of conspiracy to defraud.”
The decision follows earlier sanctions against England-based Hakeem Adelakun and Michael Boateng, and Ivan Hodur, Marian Dirnbach, Michal Dian and Tomas Huber in Slovakia.
In Slovakia, the SFZ Appeal Committee rejected the appeals lodged by Marek Božoň and Ivan Žiga, and confirmed their penalties of 18-year and 25-year suspensions from football respectively.
The sanctions were in connection with manipulation of several matches in the Slovak Corgoň Liga (top division) in the 2013-2014 season.
