February 25 – German company Aurubis (formerly Norddeutsche Affinerie AG) is poised to sign a co-operation agreement with Bulgarian champions of Ludogorets Razgrad to provide a boost to the club’s youth academy. In March the company will sponsor trials with those selected joining the club’s academy.
Aurubis has grown into one of Bulgaria’s leading companies and although not selling into the consumer markets, has supported Bulgarian sport through its corporate social responsibility programmes (CSR)
“Aurubis has traditionally supported the development of sport among young people and leading Bulgarian athletes. We believe that the Youth Academy of PFC Ludogorets is a very successful project, and the results are now visible at the international level.
“That is why this partnership is an important part of the social program of Aurubis Bulgaria this year. We want football talents from the region to also have the chance to develop their sports skills, while studying at the academy,” said Aurubis Bulgaria CEO Nikola Trean.
Aurubis is the leading integrated copper group and the world’s largest copper recycler. The company produce some 1 million tonnes of copper cathodes each year and from them a variety of copper products.
Aurubis has about 6,500 employees, production sites in Europe and the USA and an extensive service and sales system for copper products in Europe, Asia and North America.
Aurubis acquired their industrial position in Bulgarian following the acquisition of the Pirdop plant. The company is the largest copper producer in Europe and the global leader in copper recycling.
