February 26 – Gornik Zabrze has signed a sponsorship contract with Browar Lomza, owner of the Lomza beer brand. The company is the new main sponsor of the Polish football club, Gornik said in a statement.

The club has been collaborating with Browar Lomza since 2005. Gornik previously advertised the company’s other beer brand, Slaskie.

“During our nine-year cooperation, we have not ceased to support Gornik even when it was relegated to the I Liga. In other words, we can count on each other both in good and bad times,” Mateusz Czarny, brand manager for Lomza beer, said in a statement.

Slawomir Starega, marketing director for Gornik Zabrze, said that the long-term cooperation between the club and Browar Lomza was unique in the Polish sponsorship market.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed by Gornik, but Starega said that its terms were satisfactory for both sides.

The beer brand’s logo will not be included on the squad’s shirts due to Poland’s alcohol advertising regulation. However, Gornik will make the brewery’s products available at its stadium, according to Starega.

Set up in 1948, Gornik is based in Zabrze, in Poland’s south-western Silesia region. The club currently plays in the Ekstraklasa, the top tier of the country’s professional football league. Its achievements include 14 Polish championship titles from 1957 to 1988, and six Cups of Poland between 1965 and 1972.
