April 3 – Wisla Krakow has inked a cooperation deal with German company UFA Sports in a bid boost its marketing efforts and stabilise its financial situation.
“Under the newly-signed contract, UFA Sports will set up a specialised marketing team in Krakow which will be working with the club to commercialise the marketing rights of Wisla Krakow,” said a club statement.
The Hamburg-based company works with the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and various clubs from the German Bundesliga, including Bayern Munich and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In Poland, the firm has been collaborating with the Ekstraklasa, the top tier of Poland’s professional football league, as well as the Speedway Ekstrakliga and the Polish Olympic Committee.
With the latest contract, the Krakow-based club is aiming to replace its marketing department by outsourcing its activities to its new partner.
“We are persuaded that by merging the long-standing tradition of Wisla Krakow and its values with the marketing know-how … of UFA Sports the club’s offer will be very attractive for all potential partners,” Nikolaus von Doetinchem, managing director at UFA Sports Poland, said.
The deal was signed for a period of 10 years, and UFA Sports will earn a commission from the sale of Wisla’s marketing rights.
“We are glad that we launched cooperation with such a strong marketing partner,” said Jacek Bednarz, the club’s chief executive. ‘The deal, due to our increased marketing capacities, is a guarantee of a better and financially stable future for [Wisla].”
