Albanian FA ends Over Sport contract and awards broadcast rights to MCN TV

August 25 – The Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) has signed a 3-year TV deal with MCN TV for exclusive rights to the Albanina First Division (Abissnet Superior), Second Division, and Albanian Cup and SuperCup matches.

The FSHF terminated its contract with Over Sport, which had been a long term broadcast rightsholder, in June, after repeated contract breaches. The FSHF said the broadcaster had stopped paying rights fees and that legal procedures had begun to enforce the contract.

A month later the Albanian Football Federation issued a tender for the sale of the TV rights giving just a few days for bidders to submit offers.

“The Albanian Football Federation has today signed an agreement with MCN TV, which will broadcast the Abyssnet Superiore Championship, Second League, as well as the Albanian Cup and the Albanian Supercup for the next three years. The General Secretary of the FSHF, Ilir Shulku, and the Administrator of MCN TV, Endri Meksi, have signed the contract between the parties in the premises of the Football House,” said an Albanian FA statement.

“This decision was approved by the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation, which examined all the incoming offers for the right to broadcast these competitions and decided to declare the offer of the MCN TV company as the winner.”

No value was given for the deal.
