September 1 – Spurs are on the cusp of signing 22-year-old Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson in the dying hours of the transfer window. The rumoured fee for the deal is around £40 million.
The 22-year-old Wales international had an impressive Premier League debut season last term, notching 8 goals and 3 assists whilst playing for a Forest side in the heat of a relegation dogfight.
Able to play both on the wing and as a striker, Johnson would bring some much-needed efficiency to the Spurs attack. It is likely that Johnson would play on the right wing to allow Richarlison to adapt to the 9 position abandoned by Harry Kane, who transferred to Bayern Munich for €100m earlier this month. Following a shaky start to the season from Richarlison, it is equally likely that Postecoglou opts to have Johnson as an out-and-out number 9.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad have increased their offer for 31-year-old Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to a Premier League record of £150 million. Liverpool remain staunchly against selling their star man, especially with mere hours left of the European transfer window. There is more time beyond the closing of the European transfer window to get this deal done as the Saudi transfer window has another week to run.
Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp has said that he would be “furious” if Salah is sold, with less than 12 hours until the transfer window closes. The Egyptian has reportedly accepted Al-Ittihad’s mammoth contract offer than would see him become the highest paid player in the SPL, which is no mean feat.
21-year-old Bayern Munich Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is reportedly on his way to Liverpool, as the reds look to complete their midfield summer revamp. The £35 million move will see the Dutch international join compatriots Virgil Van Dijk, who captains the Dutch national team, and Cody Gakpo in the Liverpool first team. Klopp is reportedly a huge admirer of the young star, who greatly impressed during his time at Ajax but struggled for game time at the German Champions after a move in summer 2022.
Fulham defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha has come to a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich ahead of a rumoured transfer to the 33-time Bundesliga champions. The Bavarians are looking for a last-minute addition to their transfer window, as they eye the €70 million-rated midfielder as the replacement to Liverpool-bound Ryan Gravenberch. The 27-year-old Portugal international had an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League last year, completing more tackles than any other player in the division, ahead of €130 million Chelsea signing Moises Caicedo.
Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has completed the first stage of his Manchester United medical ahead of a €10 million loan move. The reds showed interest in the player following his performances in the 2022 World Cup. With the move for the Moroccan on the verge of completion, the Man Utd have cooled their interest in Pierre Emile Hojbjerg of Spurs.
Burnley have agreed a £35 million fee with Chelsea for young Dutch full-back Ian Maatsen. The player impressed on loan at Turf Moor last season under Vincent Kompany, but is yet to agree personal terms ahead of the transfer.
