November 3 – Brazilian star Neymar is set to be out of the game for six months following surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus damage suffered during a national team match last month.
The 31-year-old, his country’s all-time record goalscorer, was stretchered off in tears during Brazil’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifying match on October 17
Fitness problems overshadowed much of Neymar’s six seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, who signed him for a world-record €222 million in 2017. In August this year he moved on Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia for a reported $95 million.
Neymar underwent surgery in March for an ankle problem that also sidelined him for six months. His latest setback means he will miss Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers this month against Colombia and arch rivals Argentina.
