Messi’s Inter Miami rack up the air miles with pre-season Hong Kong stop added to El Salvador match

December 11 – Lionel Messi and Inter Miami didn’t make manage to make it to Asia for a close season lap of China, but they are now planning a pre-season Far East trip with the first announced fixture being against a Hong Kong XI in February.

The club will be doing a significant amount of pre-season globetrotting having already announced they will play the El Salvador national team on January 19 at the Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, in what the club said will be its first pre-MLS season match of 2024.

Inter Miami will play a collection of the best players from the Hong Kong First Division League at the 40,000-capacity Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday, February 4.

“We’re looking forward to this tour as a special experience for our Club, and also as an important opportunity to prepare the team as best as possible for the 2024 season. This match will offer our players chances to face new opponents on the field and compete in new environments,” said Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson.

Tickets go on sale December15, exclusively on Klook, the ticket partner for the event. Tickets will also be sold for an open training session on Saturday, February 3 at Hong Kong Stadium.

The club said that there will be further pre-season matches in other countries announced in the coming days.
