Transfer talk: Ait-Nouri attracts big club interest, Thiago ponders Saudi move as Henderson finalises exit

January 17 – Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in pursuing a deal for 22-year-old Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri (pictured). The Algeria international has impressed under Gary O’Neil, attracting interest from top clubs looking for a left-footed defender to join their ranks.

Liverpool midfielder Thiago is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and Brazil, with Al Ettifaq and Flamengo leading the race for his signature. The 32-year-old Spaniard, who is yet to play a single minute for the reds this season, is still wanted by Liverpool despite his poor injury record.

Chelsea are adamant that they will not be pursuing a move for Sporting’s 25-year-old Swedish striker Victor Gyokeres despite reports of a £73 million offer being made. Gyokeres, who was signed from Coventry City in the summer for a €20 million fee, has tallied 11 goals and seven assists in the Liga Portugal since the start of the season, alongside a tidy four goal involvements in five games in the Europa League.

PSG have reportedly offered French superstar Kylian Mbappe a new contract offer worth €100 million per season in an effort to keep the 25-year-old in Paris and stave off interest from Real Madrid.

Jordan Henderson is set to travel to Amsterdam to finalise a move to Ajax just six months after ditching Liverpool for the Saudi League. The 33-year-old England international joined Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in a shock move last summer and has since come under fire from the LGBTQ+ community. Henderson was a key player in the Premier League’s ‘Rainbow Laces’ campaign- work that was quickly undone upon his move to a state where homosexuality is outlawed.

Middlesbrough have enquired about signing 21-year-old Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo, but Manchester United want to keep him after he impressed in training.

Liverpool retain an interest in Chelsea’s 20-year-old England defender Levi Colwill despite his signing a long-term contract last summer.

Manchester United have turned their interest to Bologna’s 22-year-old Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee, with a move most likely in the summer. The former Bayern Munich youngster has scored seven goals and notched two assists in Bologna’s opening 19 games of the Serie A season.
