June 11 – The European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) website has launched a live transfer-window countdown for all of its member leagues. Each league has its own countdown bar, detailing the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the window ceremoniously slams shut.
The function is marketed as a tool “aimed to inform the whole football community including the leagues, clubs, football administrators, players and agents, as well as sports media and the wider public opinion – about the exact period remaining until the closure of the summer 2014 players’ registration period in all major European Professional Football Leagues.”
The countdown sits at a healthy 82 days, 11 hours and a few minutes and seconds at the time of writing for those leagues whose window is open. A really useful addition would be for the tracker to incorporate player transfer deals done or pending within that transfer window.
The leagues that currently have their window shut are scheduled to open, and let in the breeze of rumor and clamor, in the beginning of July.
All except the Finnish Football League Association, who are not scheduled to begin trading until, comparatively late, in August.
The countdown is a useful reference points to players, agents and fans alike that time is of the essence if dream deals are to be struck. http://www.epfl-europeanleagues.com/leagues_transfer_window.htm
