April 11 – The English Football League (EFL) has inked a new multi-year partnership with EA Sports FC, solidifying its status as an Official Partner and Official Licensee of the EFL.
Having been an Official Licensee of the EFL since 2006 and an Official Partner since the 2017/18 season, EA Sports FC has extended its collaboration with the EFL for an additional five seasons, spanning until the end of the 2028/29 season. No value was given for the extension.
As part of the agreement, the video game franchise will continue its sponsorship of the Young Player of the Season award across all three divisions of the EFL.
The partnership renewal will allow EA Sports to continue to deliver an authentic in-game experience of the EFL, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the action across all 72 EFL clubs and more than 1,800 First Team players competing in the EFL’s five competitions.
The extension aims to further enhance the gaming experience for fans worldwide, with EA Sports FC 24 witnessing a remarkable engagement, boasting more than 75 million EFL matches played in-game throughout the ongoing season.
EFL chief commercial officer, Ben Wright said: “This extension comes off the back of many exciting developments and partnerships for the League, most recently the newly announced international TV rights deal, which adds to the EFL’s global appeal among fans.
“We’re on an exciting new cycle for the League with many more opportunities to explore, and we’re delighted to have an innovative company like EA Sports FC with us on the journey.”
James Taylor, Director – Football Partnerships at EA Sports FC said: “We’re thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the EFL, allowing us to authentically integrate the world’s original league football competition in EA Sports FC 24.
“We hope that the EFL experience in-game can inspire the next generation to play like their heroes from the 72 EFL clubs.”
