July 24 – Polish football clubs Jagiellonia Bialystok and Lechia Gdansk have signed deals with new technical sponsors. In the 2014/2015 season, Lechia’s squad will appear in kits provided by Germany’s Saller, which will replace Adidas, and Jagiellonia will switch from US brand Under Armour to Italian brand Errea.

The two clubs compete in the Ekstraklasa, the top tier of Poland’s professional football league.

Jagiellonia signed a three-year deal with local firm Piko-Sport which is Errea’s distributor in the Polish market. The amount of the deal was not disclosed by the Bialystok-based club.

Meanwhile, Lechia’s four-year deal with Adidas recently came to its end, and the club opted for German brand Saller as its new technical sponsor. Also in this case, the amount of the two-year contract was not disclosed by the Polish football side. According to the information obtained by local news site sport.pl, Adidas was providing about PLN 1.2 million (€300,000) per year to the Gdansk-based club.

As a result, in the 2014/2015 season, Adidas is set to supply kits to six Ekstraklasa clubs, including champion of Poland Legia Warsaw, Ruch Chorzow, Wisla Krakow, Piast Gliwice, Gornik Zabrze and Slask Wroclaw. This keeps the German firm in the lead in Poland over itsrival brands Nike and Puma. Currently, Nike has two technical sponsorship deals in the Ekstraklasa, signed with Pogon Szczecin and Lech Poznan, while Puma has none.
