July 28 – Bulgarian Lev Ins AD Insurance Company is the new lead sponsor of top tier club Levski Sofia. The contract between the two parties was signed on Friday, but the curious thing is that it is for just six months – until the end of the calendar year.

Levski CFO Konstantin Bazhdekov said he hope the partnership with Lev Ins will continue after this period. Lev Ins takes over from mobile company Mtel.

Financial terms of the contract between Levski and Lev Ins were not disclosed. Beyond an agreed base sum payable each month, the team’s players will also receive winning match bonuses.

“The contract is for five months. It talks about an expansion into other future initiatives in the fields of youth development program. I hope for a successful partnership. We are honored to partner with Lev Ins and hopefully this is the first step towards a long-term cooperation. At this stage, we will not mention specific numbers. We have a specific lump sum we should receive each month. Other amounts will be awarded in achieving tangible results and concrete work,” said Bazhdekov.

“The partnership between Lev Ins and Levski again pledged special attention to the development of a youth acadmey, so that the football talent will get a chance for success in the senior team of the club. We want to provide an example of social responsibility by supporting sports and the young hopes within it,” said from the insurance company.

The Lev Ins AD logo will be on Levski’s shirts.

The Lev Ins AD Insurance Company was established in 1996 and became one of the privately owned companies in Bulgaria’s insurance sector. The company’s capital was raised by Israeli and Bulgarian investors. In 2007, Julius Baer Investment Management, currently known as Artio International Equity Fund, bought shares in the company. It is a part of a financial group operating in the fields of general insurance, life insurance, secondary retirement provision and health insurance.
