June 20 – Bulgarian champions Ludogorets are poised to begin a large-scale reconstruction of the club’s Huvepharma Arena in Razgrad, according to Angel Petrichev, the club’s executive director who was speaking before the start of the team’s summer training camp.
Petrichev said that all the necessary building permits are currently being awaited so that the club can begin the reconstruction of one of the stadium’s main stands. After the renovation, the capacity of the stadium will be increased to 12,000 seats.
Petrichev refused to indicate how much the new grandstand will cost, but said that nowadays prices change very quickly. He did say that he expected the build to take a year and a half.
Ludogorets said the team will continue to play in the stadium during the reconstruction. The club is currently tendering the construction contract.
“It is my pleasure to inform you that we are on the final stage for the construction of sector ‘A’. A few days remain until the issuance of a construction permit for the new stand. We are also conducting a tender for contractor companies, having invited several of the largest construction companies in Bulgaria. Without committing myself to unnecessary deadlines, our goal is to start the demolition of sector ‘A’ as quickly as possible, respectively the construction of the new sector,” said Petrichev.
“In the very near future, Ludogorets will have a modern grandstand, which, in addition to offering comfort to all visitors, will be sufficiently functional for the staff organizing the matches, as well as for the media. We have also thought about the disabled people, most stadiums in Bulgaria, and in ours, access for these people and their comfort is at a very low level. After the construction of the new sector, people using aids will have very easy access,” continued the executive director,” Petrichev continued.
“In the new stand, a large museum, a fan shop, a business area, several skyboxes and a large hospitality area are planned so that we can meet the expectations of European club tournaments, sponsors and partners to provide a worthy VIP area. With the construction of sector ‘A’ we will have a rather good-looking Ludogorets – comfortable and functional.”
